March 14, 2005

This afternoon we went to Jurupa Valley high school.  Aaron and Tauna set up their signs at the first entrance and I turned to follow the rest of group down to the next entrance but before I even had to chance to leave this dominating woman came up and started yelling at us.  So I whipped out the camera and started filming away.  She informed us that she was school security and that we were on school property.

Of course her grand daughter went to school there and she didn’t need to see these pictures! We as usual informed her that we were on the public sidewalk and had every right to be there. She went off on her radio calling for the police.  Realizing that I had the camera on, she harshly informed me that the camera better be off!

After a few minutes she realized that I hadn’t turned the camera off and came up and got in my face, grabbing the camera!  I informed her “Don’t touch my camera” she would not back off I thought for sure she was gonna take a swing and I was like “crap where is Aaron….shoot he’s not gonna hit a woman!!” So there I was trying to figure out what I was going to do if she punched me! I just kept telling her “Don’t touch my camera!”   Aaron came up and wedged himself between me and her and told her to back off!  Aaron informed her that she was in a public place therefore I have every right to film her. She didn’t like that so off she goes storming up to the cops to tell them all about us!!

Few minutes later she comes by and tells us that we have every right to be there and how we can not to block traffic (everything we know).  Anyways school bell rings, kids come pouring out.  Aaron starts preaching at them while they are piling up at the cross walk.  She came up to Aaron and said “if I give you an apartment number will you go preach there?”  Aaron like sure after we are done here.  She goes on with her voice cracking that her daughter lives there with her two kids and husband who is in and out of jail.  And that they need to hear this message.  She had to stop a few times to prevent her voice from cracking.  I offered her a piece of lit and she took it and walked off.  A few minutes later she came back and was like I gave it to my grand daughter and told her to read it!  She informed us that we should take the signs to middle schools because by the time they get here they are already sexually active. And basically thanked us for being there with out saying it!

She finally worked up enough courage to ask us to pray for her daughter and her kids. I was able to talk with her for a few more minutes and even laugh!  Before the Survivors gathered together and we prayed for her and her family.  It’s was so awesome to see a person’s make a 180 degree turn right in front of us!  Praise God and keep her (Ginny) in your prayers!

February 8th we went Ponona College, a private college.  I have to confess that I don’t like to go to private collages because you are not allowed on campus and the crowds that go by are usually “stuck up” and for the first hour I was right, it was boring and nobody wanted to stop and talk to me.  But as usual God works in amazing ways.  Our message was going out and stirring the hearts of the students because the reporters for the college paper came out to interview us.  When they came to interview me, the reporter made some of the biggest mistakes stating that he was on our side but couldn’t understand how you could show such horrific pictures.  Usually with camera interviews you have be very careful what you say so that they don’t take it out of context.  But I felt that they were just searching for answers and just started preaching God’s word to them, sharing the truths of abortion, and God’s word it was awesome to see them really thinking about what I had to say!

Last Wednesday (February 16th) Survivors participated in a G.A.P. (Genocide Awareness Project) up in Visalia, California.  The project in of it’s self was awesome.  Basically a huge display of genocides through out the history of the world, set up right in the middle S College campus.  It was a great opportunity to minister not only to the passing students by explaining to them how abortion is genocide.  But to also minister to the youth that participated in the project itself. For many of them it was a first time being out on the streets sharing not only their beliefs but also the reality of abortion.  The Survivor group was looked at as “pros” and we took them under our wings.

After spending the morning with G.A.P. Keith, Aaron, & I were able to take six of the youth to Golden West High School. I was dropped off with two girls, to stand at the high school entrance. Neither one of them had ever done anything like our ministry before. After the van pulled away the one girl turned to me with fear in her eyes and said “I am holding the most disgusting picture I have ever see and Why do you have a camera?!?!”  I was able to explain to her that the picture is gross but it’s also very powerful in the fact that pictures speak louder then words.  I also share with her how sometimes people react to what they see and we have the camera for our own protection.  I was able to spend the next 10 minutes talking with them about how to handle people, answering the tough questions, and just remaining calm  no mater how upset the other person maybe.  The school bell rang and tons of students came pouring out.  The girls witness the power of the pictures and the ministry opportunities, as I shared with ten girl students the horrific facts of abortion.
